Born in Ceglie-Bari, Italy, in 1908, Oronzo Abbectecola began painting at an early age and by 1930 had won the praise of Marinetti, poet and founder of the Italian Futurist movement. By 1948, Abbateccola had settled in the San Francisco Bay area and was active in the Los Gatos Art Association. A number of his Futurist works were reproduced as graphics by local galleries in the 1950's, and his Futurist painting "Evolution" won 1st Prize in the 1952 Los Gatos Art Association exhibition.
